Lakeside Charm, Meets Mid-Century Elegance

Step into a captivating fusion of original mid-century features and a relaxed beach house ambiance that pays homage to the owner’s Australian heritage. This remarkable home renovation project seamlessly marries these two distinctive styles, resulting in a space that exudes both nostalgia and casual coastal living.

Embracing the Coastal Vibe

The primary objective was to infuse the home with the casual, beach house atmosphere reminiscent of the owner’s Australian roots while preserving the original mid-century charm. The transformation began at the rear of the house, where a full wall of windows was introduced, opening up the space to reveal breathtaking views of the private backyard. This design decision not only floods the interior with natural light but also creates an inviting and unpretentious atmosphere.

Glass Walkway: Bridging Past and Present

A glass walkway was skillfully added to connect the main living area to a new master suite addition. This innovative addition has a dual purpose – it forms an outdoor courtyard that seamlessly integrates with the living space, blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors. Additionally, this walkway serves as a unique feature in its own right, offering glimpses of the lush surroundings while maintaining privacy.

Masterful Retreat: Custom Oversized Wood Door

Inside the master suite, a custom oversized wood door serves as both a functional element and a statement piece. It provides the option to close off the master suite for privacy while adding a touch of elegance and individuality to the space. This thoughtful design choice reflects the meticulous attention to detail throughout the renovation.

Active Lifestyle Amenities

Catering to the active lifestyle of the family, the renovation included thoughtful additions such as an outdoor shower and storage space, accommodating paddleboards and bikes. These practical features seamlessly integrate with the outdoor experience, enhancing the enjoyment of the beautiful surroundings.

Backyard Oasis: The Gym Outbuilding

A backyard outbuilding has been repurposed into a well-loved gym space, offering a dedicated area for fitness and recreation. This space has become an essential part of the family’s daily life, providing a retreat for physical well-being amid the tranquil backdrop of the private backyard.

In this remarkable home renovation, the blending of mid-century elegance with a coastal beach house vibe has resulted in a unique and inviting living space. It pays tribute to the owner’s heritage while embracing the contemporary needs of a modern family. The home stands as a testament to the art of blending contrasting styles and creating a harmonious, inviting environment where cherished memories are made and relaxation is a way of life.

Little Building Solutions helped bring an idea to life. We were looking forward to a third child when we realized we might outgrow our home. We wanted to add a bedroom and make the living room and kitchen a more comfortable space. They came up with a design that not only got us the extra room we needed, but improved upon the kitchen, living room, and the mud room. A bonus was the office/den at the front of the house which makes working from home more convenient. In order to achieve this, an additional floor was added to the top of the house. At the time, hearing that something of this scale might be finished in 6 months seemed like a dream. They completed on schedule and we were in our new home in only 6 months. Thanks LBS!
